Honest comparison
Office phones treat you like a dental office. POS giants polish the register and ignore the handset. Website shops hand you a login and walk away. Here is where independents actually bleed, and where FoodTronix shows up.
Against Clarity, Nextiva, office VoIP (Ooma / RingCentral / Vonage), and carrier “bundled” lines, plus the new AI order bots that try to replace your staff.

Phone matrix refreshed Jul 2026 against current office-VoIP marketing (Clarity / Nextiva / Ooma–RingCentral–Vonage / bundled). “Text-to-online” means texting a guest a link to your ordering site, any platform. Failover keeps phones and POS always-online; online ordering and delivery partners follow as they ship. AI bots column = Toast-ecosystem and similar voice agents.
Toast, SpotOn, Clover, and Square win on polish and brand awareness. FoodTronix wins on phones, pizza depth, the website, Online Ordering, and decade stick.

FoodTronix Point of Sale looks less flashy than Toast’s marketing screens today, and we’re rewriting it (alpha Q4, production Q1). Cloud Best is us. Cloud-based is the big guys. Terminals do not flinch when the internet drops. Card processing flips to offline. Cloud Best is seeing the store when you are not on the floor. *Toast’s merchant agreement lets them change processing rates with notice during the term while you’re on Toast Payments. Leaving means leaving the POS stack. **SpotOn: leaving their payments triggers a conversion fee and doubles software cost; merchants have also seen processing rate increases on statements. Clover / Fiserv placement deals commonly recover cost through processing over time. ***Square publishes flat rates and has no classic multi-year POS trap, but you still process with Square, and those published rates can and do change with notice (they are not permanently frozen). FoodTronix is not your processor: software is software; if rates go sideways you can reshop without ripping out the POS.
